1968 Eagle Indy Car
History: Dan Gurney's 1st 1968 Eagle (Chassis 40-1) produced for team owner Lindsey Hopkins. Roger McCluskey qualified this car 7th for the 1968 Indy 500 and ran as high as 2nd place before being sidelined with a cooler leak. McCluskey campaigned this car for during the 1968 season with success. Complete history available. In addition, the car has appeared at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and many other vintage motorsport events.
Condition: A recent restoration has brought the car to concours level quality. Fresh turbo Offy with dyno time only. New paint / lettering and the list goes on.....
Engine: 2.65 liter (168 cubic inch) turbocharged Offenhauser which produces 750 horsepower at 8500 RPMs. Dyno time only.
Transaxle: Hewland LG 500 MkI (4 Speed)
Miscellaneous: Wheelbase is 96.3", weight is 1380 lbs and fuel capacity is 72 gallons of methanol. Car was restored by Walter Goodwin (Race Car Restorations)
We have vintage raced this car numerous times including Fontana, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and in England at the Goodwood Festival of Speed where it was driven by Bobby Rahal.
