History:

1969 Eagle Santa Ana Indy Car, one of four built. Serial # 703. City of Daytona Beach Special. Legendary race car and engine builder Smokey Yunick bought the car from manufacturer Dan Gurney. Joe Leonard qualified the car for the 1969 Indianapolis 500 and ran as high as second place before a hose clamp thrown up from another car punctured the radiator. The car started 11th. Finished 6th.

Documented in Smokey's autobiography and the book "Gurney's Eagles".

The car was designed by Tony Southgate.

Car ran at the Goodwood Festival of Speed

Condition:

Complete, ground up restoration by A.J. Watson and associates including Willie Davis with fresh turbocharged 4-Cam Ford and Hewland LG500 gearbox.

10" front, 14" rear AAR Eagle wheels.

Dry weight is 1515 lbs

Wheelbase is 99.9 inches

Front and rear suspension both use double wishbones with coil over shock absorbers.

Brake calipers are 4 piston Hurst Airheart with ventilated discs.
